Isaiah 1:16 “Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the evil of your deeds from before my eyes; cease to do evil.”
We wash our hands throughout the day somewhere between 10 to 20 times per day. Every time we go to public places we get back into our cars, pull out the hand sanitizer and get to cleaning!! We never forget to wash up immediately after touching all kinds of filth in public places…after using the restroom…after opening doors…after playing with our pets…before cooking dinner. Shouldn’t it be that way all throughout the day with our hearts? Constantly examining our hearts to see if it needs a good scrubbing? Could you go a whole day without washing your hands? Yuk!! I wouldn’t want to do that…would you? What about several days or weeks? Well, we shouldn’t want to go a day without letting Jesus scrub our hearts clean!! The next time you are washing your hands, let it be a reminder to take a moment and check your heart.
So simple, yet profound - if we examined our hearts every single time we washed our hands we would be closer to being more like HIM for sure!
